# 99417 Prolonged office visit time, each 15 minutes (add-on)

An add-on code for extra practitioner time beyond the time threshold of a 99205 or 99215 visit, in 15-minute units. It's only used when the visit level was chosen by time.

## What to know

-   Medicare doesn't accept 99417. It uses HCPCS G2212, which has a different time threshold.
-   Billed in addition to 99205 or 99215, never alone.
